2022-09-01

Two years as a backend engineer, mostly on services other teams depended on and mostly under some kind of deadline.

  • Designed and shipped an ad-hoc DynamoDB data provider, integrated into a live API service under a hard business deadline.
  • Built a serverless single-source-of-truth service that eliminated redundant data processes across teams, freeing up roughly 20% of team bandwidth.
  • Served as Operational Excellence Champion: proactive planning, risk mitigation, and process improvements that saved the team about $13,000 a year.
  • Served as Scrum Master, running sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement for the engineering team.
  • Owned production operations for customer-facing services handling high-volume traffic: on-call rotations, incident response, reliability.
  • Worked daily with product managers, QA engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to scope and deliver business-critical features on schedule.
  • Built primarily in Java and JavaScript, on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, serverless architecture) and REST APIs, in agile cross-functional teams.

Role: Software Engineer.
